Gel coat restoration involves multiple stages of compounding and polishing to remove oxidation, scratches, and surface damage. We start with the least aggressive compounds and progress through finer grades until achieving the desired finish.
The process includes thorough cleaning, clay bar treatment to remove embedded contaminants, then systematic compounding using marine-grade products. We finish with premium polymer sealants or ceramic coatings for long-term protection.
For severely oxidized gel coat, we may use wet sanding techniques with varying grits before beginning the compound process. The goal is always to restore the original luster while removing the minimum amount of material necessary.
